A pretty one! Sorry I can't help with identifying it, but I do really like it!

Looks like vintage Japnese Nippon china. Sure is beautiful. Does it have any chips or cracks?

No chips or cracks. Just a layer dust.

Hey toga,

I cannot make heads nor tails of that mark. You might have a look at these marks: Pottery & Porcelain Marks - France - Pg. 10 of 22, and see if anything looks right.

I'd describe it as a Fin de siècle, Limoges (or wannabe) lobed urn with hand painted violets and copious gilding.

I think a partial on the marks reads "Hand Painted", written oddly so that the P looks like a B.
If so, I more associate that with Nippon. Possibly a maple leaf Nippon mark next to it?

Great eyes, and impressive institutional knowledge, gentlemen!

If the mark is underglaze, as it should be, what would cause it to go grainy like the OP's example?

Here's an interesting page on Nippon marks: Real Or Repro ~ Identifying Fakes and Reproductions

"The width of the leaf in the old mark is approx. l/4"wide."
