Detector(s) used
Minelab xterra, Whites DFX, Notka Makro Simplex. Folks the price don’t mean everything, the question is are you willing to put in the time to learn the machine, experience will pay off I guarantee it.
Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
My favorite places to detect are yards of older homes in my area, especially the ones on the side streets or in the country. People have been detecting here since the 1970s and most of the older homes on the main streets and highways have been detected over the decades.

I would say I do 40% on private property (yards), 30% at public schools/sports fields, 20% misc. parks, curb strips, and 10% public lands (game/land preserves).

Old farmsteads, fields and small timber acreages. Once in a while I go to a park.

I go anywhere I can, really. Old sites are great but hard to come by around here. Modern sites don't generally offer much other than clad, but there are days when digging some clad is a nice break from digging old iron.

Old farmsteads for me. I have permissions for dozens. A very poor population in the early days. Few coins but good relics.

I like the water, easier on the back.
But don't mind old homesteads for short hunts.
I'll do tot lots for quicky hunts between stops, while running from customer to customer.

I've gone to just doing playgrounds, my back and knees won't let me do any field hunts anymore.

65% parks, 20% public schools, curb strips 10%, private property 5%

Here in the mountains, I like to go to where they've cleared the streets or parking lots and dumped the snow when it melts down. You can find some cool stuff sometimes. I detect around the lake where I pick up a lot of lead sinkers, and many times fishing lures. Whenever I camp I try to detect that site, and usually it's just small change. I detected along one of the rec paths here one time for lack of anything better to do and found about 8 hot wheels cars in the dirt. There's a couple of playgrounds here I'll try to detect, and usually that's just modern coins.

I love to do Old picnic Groves and old Fair grounds that are no longer being used as such !!! Also i love doing old foundations and cellar holes

Basic question tells you what people do, great thanks. Obviously your health and equipment dictates than endeavor. However what type of detecting interest you most and why appreciate the feedback.
In order: Nuggetshooting; Beach detecting; 1700-1875 foundations and root cellars; Sportsfields; Old racetracks and fairgrounds

Terry we both HAVE A LOT IN COMMON and a lot of the same ideas !!! Some day it would be nice to swing detectors with you :) BTW we both have had bypass surgery

parks and tot lots just because they are easy access for me but this season plan on doing more cellar holes as I have been scouting them out while frozen and snowed inn,

I detect mostly old homesites, woods, and open fields probably 90% of the time. Occasionally I detect on beaches at the lake and at the coast during the summer months along with some river detecting too.

Majority of my hunting is cellars and old horse tracks or fairgrounds. I would say less than 5 or 10 percent of my detecting takes place in a spot still inhabited.

This is where it is at. The most old coinage and jewelry, buttons, and neat relics. Picnic groves, old horse tracks, and fairgrounds. Best detecting there is in my opinion.

98% private property permissions
Former homestead locations
Never around inhibited owners homes.
98% breaks down to the following.
60% crop fields
30% Hay fields
10% Bush
2% Public lands-parks
