how come you guys are so fast to tell everyone that thier meteor is not real.
what makes you think all meteors have iron and nickel.
i dont think all meteors have to be of iron content.
i suppose you can tell us what solar system they came from too.
i understand telling some one if its real or not
but lets be clear not all meteors are iron.

Thtat's because most of the finds here aren't meteorites. There's a lot of rocks out there that can easily be mistaken for meteorites and thats what people are posting. Do you want me to tell you "yeah, thats a meteorite" when it's not?

And yes your are correct, not all meteorites have iron in them. However this is a very small percentage (less than 1% I think) and most likely if someone finds a meteorite then it most likely will have iron and nickel in it because of this. The meteorites that don't have iron/nickel in them most people wouldn't be able to recognise because they look so similar to terrestrial rocks.

A stoney meteorite with zero iron content
won't be found by a metal detector ;)
... unless it's a eye find by a detector (ist)

Do you own a metoerite imafishingnut?
If not... PM me and let me know.

BDoo :)
