The last box I opened had a Mexican Coin in place of one of the halfs. I am thinking I mention it to the banker (a nice guy who is friendly with me), and just leave it be (I mean, $.50 is not going to break me). Still...

Banker won't do anything but see that the armored truck company is providing the wrong coin, therefore shorting one of its customers. Solution? only solution is for the bank to stop ordering halves in. Just bring a few rolls back to the bank homie, & put the mexican ones in the middle.

Or better yet, keep the Mexican coin and start collecting all the foreign coins that come your way.Its 50 cents, if you cant take that sort of hit, you are in the wrong game. What will happen when you buy a bag from a bank for $100 and its $19 short? Its happened to me and you just have to deal with it, it is the risks you take.

Exactly. Hazards of the hobby as I always say to anyone getting into this! Since I use so many different machines, it's usually a crap shoot on whether it's counting right when I dump. 50% of the time it counts me out the proper amount and then the other 50% it could be off as much as $2 on average. Once it shorted me $50 and I asked for help... All my coinage was stuck in the machine for some reason. Don't be afraid to ask for help!

I was shorted $80 in dimes. And usually I get plenty of foreign coins. Local coin shop buys them for about 7 dollars a pound. Part of the game. Heck with halves lately I's call finding a Mexican coin a win.

I really like finding foreign coins, even the "Irish pennies", yeah sure I'm paying 50 cents for a penny but it's cool to find a large copper penny and the older the better, I throw them in a baggie with all the other foreign coins. On the other hand I've found SBA dollars in half rolls, a buck for 50 cents. It's all good.
Sometimes a sealed box will be missing a a roll, a $10 hit but it's part of the game. And yeah, like 50cent said, if you complain they'll very likely just stop ordering for you and maybe for anyone.

I remember there was one member here who found a Saudi Arabian riyal that was silver and never complained. The next day, he found a regular Mexican coin and was planning on demanding a refund for not receiving US coins.

Just keep all foreigns, once you have a pound, sell it on eBay (or to me

). They seem to go for $5-$8 a pound. If your coins are pretty unique, I could be interested.

I like finding foreign coins, I have a bunch of the Balboa halves and such, I haven't found a large penny yet, but think it would be cool to find one. I wouldn't say anything to the bank though and just keep it. Good luck, Maverick.

I've found a Balboa and an Ecuadorian half in the past month. That's an interesting part of the hunt. Otherwise you'd have to go to that country to find it, but the coin found you.

That's the way it goes. You make too much of a fuss for a favor the bank is doing for you, you might get cut off. If a Mexican coin bunches your undies, maybe you should look elsewhere for a hobby.

I have a huge bag of Canadian coin. I save all the other foreigns for my wife's classroom.

You must be using the TD Penny arcade... It miscounts my dime dumps by a 2 dollar average every single time.. Wait until it miscounts 50 dollars and there is no remaining coinage in the machine.. Then you will have a really fun situation to deal with.. Especially if the bank managers aren't friendly or accommodating.. I am still waiting for my money to be returned after a big miscount nearly two months ago...

mav - don't forget that those half balboa's were silver about the same time as ours were. I hvae a silver one. Made my day. :thumbsup:
