It seems many of the tellers im friendly with while doing road trips are extra appreciative if i buy their ike dollars along with the halves im after. I understand they dont like to have to count them every night so of course i help them out and take them as well and this keeps a mutual friendship going. So the question is, what the heck do you guys do with them? Obviously if i got one that had silver in it i would keep it but im starting to get way to many of these things to hold on to. Any suggestions?

No suggestions from me i wanna know also but-- A local coin dealer is selling them for $1.70 but only buying them for $.90.

I have 30 Ikes on hand now, I have a few kids in the family having birthdays coming up. They will get them along with some halves. Try it sometime, the kids get so excited, you would have thought they hit the lottery big.

Have you checked eBay?

Ikes can sell for more than face if you have a lot of them.

They're also great for tipping at restaurants.

Or, just deposit them at your bank and buy more halves.

I spend them. It's funny to see the look on the cashiers face when I hand acouple Ike's to her.

I do the same as Dave in Maryland. I use them for gifts for children and
tips to my bartenders. They love them.

...........wait a minute........you say the dealer is paying .90 for them??? they are a dollar coin, who in the world would give him a DOLLAR for .90 cents???

I spend them when get Gas or groceries or whatever- they surprise people when use them; I do same thing for Tellers too and buy them- $2 Bills too, if there are not too may, one had 600 dolalrs worth I turned then down.

When my wife decides to go antique hunting ...
Take em a couple counties away and spend them.
I have twice had young sales people call the manager over to say yes or no about them.
They aren't old enough to have even seen one up close yet.

I am making a cool disco ball with mine. No, but seriously I filled up my coin album. Now that I have the whole collection I spend them or sell them on ebay.

How can they buy them for .90. It is stupid. You go to the bank and get $1.00 legal tender

Thanks for the replys folks. Good ideas all.

For me to explain who would be stupid enough to sell an ike for .90 would probably insult some. The world is full of stupid people. Just look around at some of the signs or warnings out there.-- Sign at a red light [wait for green light] ...DUH . Warning on a wood chipper [dont put hands inside] ...DUH , and so on. The real point was that if he is selling them for 1.70 and buying for .90 eventually both prices should go up and it should get easier to sell them at over 1.00.

i have a store but i sell them for two dollars all day long for some weird reson it is like no one has ever seen one!

Use them and halves to pay for all my yard sale finds. people get a kick out of them
