I found this copper in a cornfield that once had a house on it. Found several coppers that night this was the best. Also this may be the best one I have ever found. I am trying to ID the Miller variety and have narrowed it down to the MILLER 33.43-q . Only thing is the rev doesnt match up. The obv is a dead ringer thought. Can anyone help ID this variety. If it is the variety I think then it is very rare R-6 . any help would be great. Thanks

GEEZ'UM, CHRISTMAS!!! That is one AWESOME looking Copper! Don or IP should ID this one, but WOWWIE ZOWIE! Congrats! Hogge :notworthy: :headbang: :hello2:

:icon_thumright: wow awsome find

I believe the Obverse is NOT a 33.43, not exact match, however it does appear to be an exact match of a 1787 Miller 33.45-W.2 which is I believe still an R6 but maybe not now, the 33.43-q is now a R5+ or R5.
The rarietes are changing as more are being identified to those in the know.

Super find for a Conn copper!!

My reference is from studying photos from the C4 auction catalog Dec 2, 2006......

Very nice condition! Those green ones never get their justice due from a pic.

I've taken too many pics of similar patina items to know they just don't compare no matter how you manipulate the image.

Holy crap, that is the god of all Connecticut coppers! :notworthy: :headbang: Which state do you sweep in? You must post those other coppers. :icon_thumleft:

My brother found a Connecticut copper in similar condition about 2 years ago.

Thanks Guys Don in SJ nailed it. I hunt in NH and live in an area with sandy soil. This copper was found in southern Mass though. I have been very lucky with the coppers I have found and will post others. Thanks again guys :)

Please, post those coppers. I'm from Alabama. We don't find those here, but I love looking at them.

And do the people in the know here think it's banner-worthy :dontknow:? Seems like it would be......
Nice find!

Fantastic. Congradulations.....

If this copper is a recent find and perhaps maybe more of a story it should be on the banner, I know the coin I mentioned in the catalog was in similar condition, this coin might be a condition census candidate (for details), I am not sure, and as far as value goes, the one in the catalog went for $950 in 2006. So yes it is a find that is banner worthy weather it is on this banner or not...

I would have voted banner on detail alone. Was waiting for someone to ID variety to be sure. Being an R-6 I think it should be. State coppers that come from the ground like this are definitely a rarity 8! BANNER :notworthy: My vote is in.

HOLY MOLY!!!!
That is a BEAUTY to have come out of a corn field!!!
Congratulations!

My GOD! That is one of the nicest conn. coppers I ever seen come out of the ground,Beutiful coin congrats . Art Of Fact

If you'll write more of a story about the hunt and the experience of finding it, I will nominate this one for the finds banner up top.

BIG congrats on such a nice copper find.

Regards,

Buckles
