Looks like a speed attachment that goes on a ratchet wrench under the socket so you can spin it with your fingers. If so, the square hole will be 1/4 , 3/8, or 12 inch. and will be round. is this round or oblong.

The edges look knurled to me so I would agree with speed ratchet for ratchet wrench.
