Here is a pictured I got a few weeks ago now .I was looking back through some other pictures and actually saw what I had gotten and surprised myself .The object standing up on her hind legs is my dog Tillie .And she is watching a buck come leaping down over the road and the hill below it as it makes it escape towards the trees and brush on the other side of the small str IMG_1836 (1).webpeam to the right of the dog

That’s hilarious! If you blow up the pic enough you can get a better look at the deer and it looks like it has super short legs for some reason. Very odd optical illusion but a great shot nonetheless!

I can tell you what I saw that day .There where 3 deer there as I walked back the road. They left me walk past where they where laying down.I saw a small buck and a doe take off and watched them go .I heard more noise and looked up to see this buck follow after the other two .I was holding up the camera and pushing the button but I had no idea if the deer was in the shot or not.I did not look real closely at the pictures because I thought I had not gotten a picture of it It had been a rainy day all day ere and I was just passing time looking over some pictures from the last few weeks when I noticed the deer and the dog I know the deer had a decent set of antlers but I think the short legs is just because he is jumping he has them pulled up close to his body .I think he feet only hit the ground about 5 times from leaving the top of the bank and crossing the creek .He covered a lot of ground in quick fashion

GHF, by any chance did you notice if the deer had a red nose?

Tillie looks pretty excited. You captured all the action going on in that shot.

A friend suggested I let TILLIE do the hunting since she is more aware of what is happening than I am .Yes tamrock she is real excited It looks like she is about to explode out of the top of her head. She is not quite a year old yet so she has all that puppy energy yet, I have added two more pictures to go with the ones I posted earlier .If you look close you can see parts of the IMG_1837.webpother deerIMG_1838.webp

Thank you for sharing! :occasion14:

I like that scenery. It reminds me of hunting quail in the rolling wooded hills of winter in Iowa. Here in Colorado it's getting to be so overwhelming with the population and when I go back to the Midwest in the countryside you hardly to see anyone. Just a quiet winter day in the woods interrupted by the sounds of cracking branches as a deer runs away.

Tamrock I went to Iowa in 1997 to hunt pheasants .I was a perfect trip as far as the hunting . We saw quail but the person that invited the two of us that went along kept saying he was not planning to shoot any but it was OK if we did . After he told us 10 times we decided to not shoot at them because he did not want us too . He was in the process of buying the property Thanks for reminding me of 3 of the best pheasant hunting days I ever had . If fact Tillie is my pheasant hunting dog in the making

Veiwing with the lap top vs. the phone made a huge difference for me. Pretty cool pics GHF!

Tillie's rippin' around and looks like she's in doggie heaven...8-)

That last pic you took is gorgeous, and reminds me of many cold, grey
days trekking through the woods back in the day. Still, even those days
have a beauty all their own.

I did some brushwork on that image, and with your permission I'd like to
share the results.

Thanks everyone for looking . The camera and the critters provide the scene I did not even notice the first time I looked at them what was there . I briefly glanced at them and saw the dog when I looked again a few days later So even though I was there I was like a line from a Bob Dylan I was the only person on the scene missing.Dizzy I have enjoyed many winter time walks . And as you said there is beauty in the gray shades of winter . I say a walk in the outdoors is the best medicine I ever take . I have not problem if you share you efforts After all this site is about our discoveries and our sharing of information and knowledge . But IF that sharing reveals any info concerning the location I must request that be kept unknown

GHF, there is no metadata connected with the image, and even if there
were, I would never share that information. I'm a firm believer in a
persons right to their privacy.

The beauty was all there in your pic. I just used some brush work to try
and bring it out in the open..really not much difference unless you compare
the two :occasion14:

Dizzy Thank for posting your interpretation of what you see . I have been walking there for about 20 years now It is unbelievable how much it has changed over those years Please understand I was not implying you would post the metadata .I am just very protective of any landowner that allows me access to their property .I often do not post things because I worry how the landowner would feel about it My memory is not perfect but I think there are a few other pictures on this forum of the same site . The deer with all four of it's legs off the ground and the dogs reaction to the situation at hand are what makes it what it is . As I said I was just holding the camera and pushing the button. In the original picture Mother Nature is the artist .And you have added your skills to show a more open version of it .So maybe another Bob Dylan reference "When I Paint My Masterpiece" I like what you did .Thanks for showing us

As I am still a relatively new guy here on this site I do not have that many started threads On Jan 31 2019 I posted Cotton Candy Forest I am standing at the same opening in the tree line; where TIIILIE is pictured standing on her back legs; looking west .The trees on the hillside are a continuation of the hill above the little stream where the buck crossed the stream. In an April 3 rd 2019 post is a picture of Tillie as an 8 week old puppy and Spring Scouting Trip 4/15/18 ,WMRR copper tag 4/15/18 &Marble with a Head ache 7/16 /18 are finds nearby the site where this picture that I used to start the thread , what's going on
