I mostly hunt local parks and disturbed ground when I can. By disturbed ground I mean a sidewalk or curb restoration. Where I live limestone lies just beneath the surface. It's not unusual to get into rocky soil 2" deep or less. I often get a good signal, maybe 8" deep or so. At 3 or 4" I hit limestone and simply can't dig it to get to the target. Keep in mind I'm digging public property so bringing in an excavator is not an option.
 

Public parks always demand a "hand digger," and proper plugs. You may be hearing compressed minerals IN the limestone, as targets. Start by lowering your sensitivity, or gain, (on a 1-10 scale) to 6. Set your discrimination just below Nickel. See how that works for you.:skullflag:
