Whats up with the 1970 halves???

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

They were only issued in Mint Sets. In two years of hunting I only found my first one last month. Some here haven't found one at all yet. They are toughies.

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

I think they were only issued in mint sets, thats why they are so rare

*you beat me Immy :D

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

Still waiting for my first one, about 45,000 coins searched so far :)

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

Yep, 1970 is the "second" rarest Kennedy half. When I find that half dated "1975", I'm gonna retire.

actually, there are, but they are VERY extremely hard to find.

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

I have never heard of a 1975 Half.......... They made bicentenials in 1975 and 76, They had no intention on making 75 halfs so why would there be any out there if they never made a die for them????

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

Naw, they never made any 1975 Kennedys.

......as far as anyone knows

1933 Double Eagle?

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

As stated above there and absolutely NO 1975 Kennedy halves. In 10 years of searching I have found a total of 3 1970D halves, so they are out there.

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

Still seeking the all elusive 1970 half....... >:(

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

Jake, I bet you had everybody reaching for their Red book on that 75. I know I did. :D

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

Yeah I have not seen a 1970 yet in about 30,000 halves or so...

Someday...
;D

Aside from some proofs, that is the last Kennedy I'm missing; having found the 87P & D earlier this year.

That was also the last year (aside from proofs) that they were silver clad.

Re: What's up with the 1970 halves???

You have to go through a lot of rolls to find a 1970-D. My best guess is that you have to go through at least $150K in halves for each 1970-D that you find.
