None of us have seen one around here for years. Today......3, amazing. One was on the deck, one on the side of the pool, one on the bottom of the pool. I tried to save it but....it was too late :-\. But I got a much closer look ;). I'm glad they are back :).

Weird critters aren't that! Seems like at least once a year I see one around the house - every now and then we get a praying mantis too - those are pretty cool looking as well!

Walking Sticks, hmmmmmmn, used to see quite a few when I lived in Pennsylvania, not sure they like the southern New Jersey Pine Barrens as much but we have seen a few over the years but it has been quite awhile....... Interesting insects for sure.
