Hey everyone. I'm new here, literally, moved from Canada to New Mexico. Just finished splitting winter wood and inside the middle of one of the stumps that was split, was this heavy slug.
Extracted from a very old and large pinion pine that had fallen over but was around 40 feet tall. The area here is in the Manzano Mountains and from what I've learned, was home to a Mexican bean farming family, many generations old but had deserted this area around the 1930's when drought made it impossible to continue.

The bullet slug itself is quite heavy and measures 0.43 in diameter using a digital caliper. There are no other markings that I can see.

Anyone have any idea of how old this might be? Just curious. I was surprised it hadn't mushroomed at all, hitting a tree and embedded within.
