So we have a little local Farmers Market here in downtown. I get this hair brained idea to show of my equipment, Lost Treasure mags, coin poppin books, and best of all, my finds these past 6 months, including all the trash and junk I've saved. I introduce myself as Dave, and.... what year was YOUR house built? All good conversations about our hobby. Got my pile of business cards, my copy of the ol' code of ethics, my official "Metal Detecting Training Certificate" (LOL)... and a nice pile of permission slips, complete w/ waivers. Most of my contacts told me that their homes were built within the last 10 years or so,:BangHead: but of the 5 that approached me whose homes were built before 1960, 4 of them gave me permission!:headbang: I was up front w/ them too, said finders keepers, none of them flinched. I love being a professional salesman, makes it so easy:laughing7: Best part of all.....didn't have to pay a vendors fee, cuz I wasn't selling anything.

Cool deal Dave. Maybe we can hunt together when I'm on Ft Myers beach for Thanksgiving week...

Great plan - wish I'd thought of it.

Pretty good idea.

Well Played Sir!

Maybe for the fifth homeowner you could sweeten the deal with one of these to get permission

Good Luck

great post. Great idea. Thanx for posting.

Remember those homes that were built after 1960, someone walked on it before hand.

Nice! Great idea! A win, win, and win!

Chances are we will be hitting some old homes, I don't get wet beach hunting.:laughing7:

That's a fantastic idea Dave, wish there was person like you near here. I need a hunting buddy.

High five Dave.
Great idea!

If we had a banner for ideas, you would certainly be on it. You definitely think outside the box.

Great positive representation of the hobby and chance for folks unfamiliar with it to ask questions. Good looking set up to attract eyes. Hopefully break some stereotypes.
Nothing is good with out a good demonstration though! What would be a good time for me to pop by your home?8-)

That's probly the coolest idea I've seen yet!

Stop by anytime! we will hit it hard!

Set the booth up again yesterday, got 5 more permissions, best OK for a house built in 1940, problem is, rainy season and typical heat and lightning threats, and work... too many OK's, not enough time:BangHead:cant wait for a cold front to hit us in October, detecting in temps in the mid to upper 80's will be refreshing:laughing7:

Excellent idea and great for people to see the kinds of stuff that is inches from there toes!!!
