Where are some good places to metal detect for jewelry and coins in a city?
In some places I cant dig then tell me where to go to find on the surface.
If you can tell me where they are I will appreciate your answers very much.
Thank You
First of all i'd like to say" welcome to the forum" .You should be able to hunt the city parks and playgrounds with out a problem, depending on the city. Some places you can hunt the schools and churchyards, might have to ask first.Search areas of sidewalk or street that are being torn up for repair, that's usually good for older coins.Depending on what city your in,you can hunt the strip of grass between the street and the sidewalk. What city are you in?I'm sure people on here will help you out a little more if you tell them where your at.Laws are specific for each state, county and city and even burrough(sp?).If your in N.Y.C. or something and lacking for grass or dirt then head for central park after you check the local statutes. So where you at?
I am in Indianapolis Indiana.? I live nearest a mall area. but have access to parks and school areas.? O and I would never have thought about torn up streets and sidewalks.
Thanks for the help. Anyone else?
Usually grassy areas around swimming pools will net a few nice pieces of jewlery and coins, but don't ever pass up sidewalk replacement areas. (If the area is pre 1900). Most of my best finds have come from these areas.
Good luck!
