When you say "good" or "hot" spots, do you mean as in for finding old coins? Or for jewelry? Or you just wanna bulk up on clad? Be specific. Not likely that someone is going to post a "hot spot" for you here on a public forum, for old coins at least. Because I mean .... if it were a "hot spot", then by mere definition, it wouldn't be "hot" for very long. Since those people who knew about it, would obviously have given it a good going over already :)

Hook up with proficient hunters in your area, who routinely find the old coins. See if they'll show you some ropes. But odds are, even the good hunters in your area aren't likely just to go telling you their hard-earned/hard-researched spots, UNLESS you have reciprocating leads, research, etc... (lest you merely be a tag-along, expecting others to do your research for you, etc...).

One place you can often find old coins, w/o a lot of competition having come before you, is old yards. Yes it means you'll have to knock on doors, but ...... at least it's a start. Otherwise, you have to hit the history books and hope for things that others haven't exploited. The obvious easy access spots, that are no secret to all the books, have usually been exploited. But sometimes you hit a gem in an obscure source, (old picnic sites, old stage stops, abandoned scout camp, etc...) that no one else knew about before.

I agree with Tom, old yards are the best, and may be the final frontier. Get out there and start knocking.
