wheres the GOLD ...gold in the water where does it come from ?

ok so ...much experiance detecting .new to the beach angle.now that im retired i will be wintering in beach areas. been over kauai,hawaii a month. going to florida next. from what i see not much on dry beach . clad coins and fishing weights. 5 hours hunting was all i could manage. wife not into sport.plus my first love is golf. during which i found about 8 dollars spenders. i found 22 nickels so i know i would get some jewelery if it was there. during my month stay here ive been on almost evry kauai beach. got a few tips from king of the rings, finderzzs.thank u. anyway im not out to call anyone liars but i see very little evidence of gold around.in order for gold to be found its gotta get lost first.who is losing it. not the surfers.hung around the surf beaches a lot.mostly young people and poor.many hitchhiking and camping out. what jewelry i saw on them was non metallic or obvious junk. older surfers didnt seem to be wearing jewelry at all. little kids ? i dont think so. snorkelers,most i observed removed any valuables before entering water.just not that many people in the water at all,even in surf protected areas.at 75 to 80 degrees air temp.maybe 80 plus is magic when people get hot enough to need a dip.does kauai get that much hotter in the summer.? most beaches i went to had maybe a few little kids in the very shallow.mom or two with them. maybe one or 2 people actually in the water.and 2 to 20 surfers way out there.resort beach or regular. most people seem to be eating ,drinking beer,etc. very few actually go in water .sunning while reading etc. i saw only three or 4 people in the water with obvious gold jewelry on the whole time im here. im guessing the older jewelry laden set swims in the HEATED resort pool,if they swim at all. who can solve this mystery or is it just where im at??

It's just where and when your hunting. Most locals know enough not to wear their good stuff in the ocean. Don't give up, believe me the GOLD is there!

It might be where your hunting, cause believe me it is there. The shores I wade are loaded with beach goers and they wear stuff I can't afford. Huge gold rap star chains large enough to chain up a dog. Many times I am out hunting at first light and again when activity winds down for the day.

This is what I look for.........

When I size up a potential gold producing beach. I look for the usual things like crowds most importantly.....these crowds are usually attracted by facilities that make their day at the beach convenient and most importantly comfortable. I look for beaches with things like bathrooms, shower facilities, a snack bar or similar concession will help too. you want a crowded beach that attracts crowds consisting of famiies and singles alike. the psychology of this is facinating....think about it....singles are out to attract members of the opposite sex....so what do they do? well we all know that vanity definitely plays a part in it....does that include adorning themselves with jewelry? are those same singles running into the water and showing off to impress a member of the opposite sex? hmmmm....do yo see what i'm getting at? Moms and dads are constntly chasingthe kds ounthe beach aren't they? Ho many grownups have you seen frolicking in the shallow surf while the kids hang off of thncking loose necklaces and pendants?
another thing I look for are beaches frequented by certain ethnic groups I find that hispanic people wear alot of gold and don't think twice about wearing it freely into the water. Well hope this helps......Brian

I agree with most everything said above. It is clearly there. I have a box with trophies from last year. My first hunt last year I scored on Platinum. After that, I hit multiple gold and two silver rings for the rest of the year. You are right about one thing, the bulk of the good stuff is in the water. There are some dry beach finds also but every Tom, Dick and Harry with a land machine is there scooping it up. I saw a huge dry beach find my last trip unfortunately it wasn't mine. You have to swim with the sharks to raise the percentages in your favor or go to remote locations where lots of gold is worn and where detectors are unheard of. Look at Posts on "Today's FInds", by a fellow called CrackBadger. He is hunting in Korea and loading up on gold lately. There just aren't many folks with detectors there but the tourists and locals there are dropping tons of gold for him to find along with what was left there in the past. He increased his percentages by 100's of percent over most of us just by location.

You can water hunt without entering the water. You still need a very good beach detector. The waterless water hunt is done at low tide. You are at the mercy of the tide schedule but if you hit the beach a couple of hours before the low tide, you actually get a shot at what was under water when the low tide goes out. You have to work fast because the low tide waits for nobody. Depending on the area or beach, I have seen as much as 100 feet of what was underwater exposed. I am sure there are areas where there is more and I know that there are areas where there is less exposed but take what you can get. There may be times when the best low tides are at 3 a.m. If you are hungry for a find, you will be there.

The Goldenoldies website does have some great educational articles that will open your eyes but my limited experience has helped me develop this formula so far.

Regularly Populated Beach + In Surf With An Advanced Water Detector + Local Knowledge + Persistence + Patience + Meticulous Attention to Detector Technique = GOLD.

If you can't get in the surf then you have to do the low tide thing. Even if you can get in the surf, the low tide thing makes hunting soooo much easier and you can even go in what was deeper water.

I believe I read a previous post where you had taken a low end detector with you on your trip. I won't argue that you found some things, you obviously did but there is a very good reason most of us are using $1000 plus detectors. If the Bounty Hunter/Discovery Line and others where getting the job done, I clearly would not be laying out the cash for my equipment that I did. Results are in the pudding. We are finding gold. Not a knock at you at all, just the way it is. You just don't see folks with low end equipment posting lots of beach finds.

yeah thats what i was thinking it had to be.but,its the season allright.the flood season.did u on the news see the cargo container that floated down the river and smashed the hanapepe bridge? anyway its time for me to go back to the mainland. i appreciate your friendly attitude and tips. i will be buying an underwater detector soon.and should be on the florida beaches --tampa area in about 2 weeks. ill let u know how it goes. gonna do the big island next but prob be several years from now unless my real estate miracoulously sells.!!! yeech been waiting 2 yrs the market is dead.aloha and mahalo.scrounger
