Have never done this, Sounds like brinks is the preferred vender. I only have $500 to my name, and no job so I wont be competing with you. Just thoughtI might do a little gambling where you dont lose anything before I gotta pay bills.

I don't know which banks use brinks, but my whole area is supplied by them. $500 to work with a few times a month isn't bad. Here's your options...

Denominations of coins which some in boxes are:
$25 box of pennies-------I am averaging 18 wheats per box, though most common wheats are valued at $0.03 each, making it just a novelty search.
$100 box of nickels-------I am averaging 1 silver every box or so, but they are heavy and could be tough on your eyes.
$250 Box of dimes--------I am averaging 1 silver every 3 boxes
$500 box of quarters------your odds of finding a silver quarter are very slim
---------------------------------All of the above is avialable at banks without ordering----------------------
$500 box of half dollars- most banks(if not all banks) have to order them for you, some banks charge a fee, some don't. Note: I am on a 10-box half dollar streak with no keepers whatsoever.

(all of these coins are brinks, except for the half dollars, i get a mix of brinks and what i believe may be Garda. (I am 0 for 3 with brinks half dollars, 0 silvers for $1,500 searched).

hope this helps.

The ones that really find the silver, and could use this to be a profitable thing are able to go through box after box. It is all about volume. On my brinks boxes I am averaging pretty decently on the dimes. I have found 70 silver out of like 20 boxes or so. However, there are times I go box after box with NOTHING. I am on a 6 box skunk streak on brinks half dollars. The good thing about it though, is that yes, you put 500 dollars into it, and at the end, when you find nothing... you still have 500 dollars....

Unless you can do large volume or can get very lucky... its more about the thrill of the hunt and the excitement of that silver edge or critical date...

buy all the cwr coin that you can, whether it b dimes, or halves. Hope you don't want to get rich :icon_pirat:

In my area, BOA and TD use Brinks. Since myself and several others use TD to dump halves, it would be counterproductive to use Brinks for getting halves.
Brinks dimes do produce an average 1.5 dimes per box.

Interesting that you say Brinks would be terrible because of that... Do you also think though, that since TD bank IS so convenient to dump coin that there are lots of non CRH depositing silver coins into the machines? Maybe I am wrong...What do you all think?

I am interested what one of the experienced people may have to say about that thought of not using Brinks if TD uses it... Any personal experiences?

I have seen quite a bit of silver go into the machines over the last 4 years. A few times I was able to intercept some due to some very nice tellers. Most often, though, is that once it hits the bag, it stays in the bag.
