This question is to anyone out there who knows about metal detecting. We are thinking about planning a vacation this year centering around searching beaches. The trouble is we don't know where to start, does anyone have any previous trips they could share to give us a clue where to go ?? Is FL the best ? or the Carolinas, or even Georgia ??
And what are the rules about hunting in the water as well as the sand ?
thanks for any help you can give.

As for rules, you should check out each state under the Legal Issues forum as each state is different, even counties. Water hunting or even wet sand hunting should require a water proof machine as these have a saltwater mode. Without it, the detector will problably be unstable.

Good Luck,

Any beach with lots of good looking women in bikinis would be the best. You can walk right up to them sunning in the sand, and they think your detecting. ;D

What a coincidence, spring break is coming! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Treasure_Hunter, I must try that too! thanks for the tips man! ;D
Best is where many Woman are located right? ;)

ok, serious I'd say where many people are/where or have been present (at that location) would be good.

Any beach where 10's of thousands of college students, half of them in bikinis ;D , go on Spring break, most wearing gold jewelry, in the next 6 weeks will be a good place to check out.

Our beaches down here are about to be "reseeded" ;D
