My wife and I decided to upgrade and do a lot more detecting, I know which one I want but my wife who is actually far more devoted and tenacious than I am is torn between the Mindlab se or the Whites v3i,

So this isn't a "VS" thread but rather take me further on details than I can learn on the store websites,

My wifes like the 28 freqs on the mindlab is that so much better than the 3 on the whites?
My wife does all kinds of treasure seeking, no one notch,

How about some hands on real world pros and cons of the machines.
What are the value of each used in good shape and the best place to buy new, the best value?

Many thanks!
Cheers,
Bats.

Minelab For Me But That's Just Me. There are all kinds of vendors on tnet that will be glad to assist you with your needs. I have purchased off of Fort Bedford & I can say keith is a real great guy to deal with. Hope this helps Gl2u

Playinginthedirt,
Please give me some whys you like one over the other,

What is tnet, google isnt helping me on that,,, do you mean treasure net, actually I am more hunting hands on opinions from users not sales pitches from venders....

I like the minelabs myself but if I told you why I like it better it would just make someone who likes the whites better come back with bla bla bla.Now if someone comes on and says the whites are better the minelab guys will respond with bla bla bla. The best thing to do is watch all the videos, read all the reviews and then pick one and learn it. I've bought one that was being hyped and was dissapointed.

I am not trying to start some bla bla bla and all I get from the sales pitch videos is hype and no deeper info and in your case that got you stuck with a unit I didnt like,
I have watched lots of videos and read lots of reviews I have come as far as I can with that and desire hands on opinions,

I am sure the list of people who have used both machines isn't that long and I am just curious what they liked and didnt like and why.

I own and mod on others unrelated forums I see no reason that I can't get some hands on pros and cons without it becoming some Ad Hominem attack on anything or anyone....

I own both the Whites V3I and Minelab E-trac. Both are fantastic machines but the Minelab is much easier in my opinion to learn.

Cool...going somewhere,
One big hang up really is the 28 freqs the ML has, is this a big old bonus over the Whites 3 freqs?

I didnt take it that way, and I wasnt either, heck, I have lots of hobbies and you should see some of the attacks on cars related forums,
No, we just need some hands on opinions, she is leaning towards the ML se because of all the freqs but is that needed if so why do most units have one freq?
We live near kellyco so could pop over and buy it but we also like our toad pelts so if someone beats their price....we are so there, and I am not too scared to buy used if the price is good.....

I don't see the added number of frequencies as a big bonus. A lot depends on several factors such as ground condition/ mineralization, emi, what items you are searching for, etc. The Whites machine has a lot more options for tweaking the settings but can be very frustrating to learn. I have never used the SE but do have the E-trac. I have heard mostly good things about the SE. One simple way to view more opinions is to google "V3I vs Minelab". Weight is also another factor to consider if you are going to hunt for long periods of time. I'm not sure but the SE might be lighter in weight than the V3I. Check the manufacturers websites for machine weight.

I just saw on Kellyco that the ML se is no longer being made, what will replace it?

When the CTX 3030 came out, Minelab began to phase out some of the older technology units. The Sovereign GT was first, followed by the Explorer SE. The Etrac replaced the Explorer SE.

13bats you and the wife should take yourselves down and try both units out, that way there's no regrets, no pointing fingers later, test them both out, talk about it and then decide.
