Got a question for everyone. I have a buddy that wants a detector. He mostly wants to do gold hunting so pry something really good that can pick up anything from fine gold to pickers/nuggets. He's pry into about 85% prospecting and 15% coin/relic. In your opinions what would be a great detector for him to do both but with prospecting his main focus. Budget up to pry $800? Thanks a ton!!

Haha I was thinking that one. Difference between gold bug and gold bug pro???

Gold bug pro, Lobo SuperTraq would be 2 machines to research.

Gold bug pro has disc and has a very fast reset. I have buddy who I hunt with the most and he hangs with any detector I've seen coin hunting. But I hear they find nuggets just as well. Oh yea the plain gold has no disc.

What are your thoughts between gold bug pro and gold bug 2??

Depends if you want disc, I believe the 2 doesn't have disc at all rendering it a nugget shooter and the pro would be better for all round use as in nuggets, coins, and relics.

Thanks. Anyone have any good things to say about prospecting with the xterra 705??

I sold mine just didn't jive with it. A buddy funds nuggets with his but my other buddy with the gold bug pro does better on nuggets and old coins. The gold bug pro feels way lighter and is way faster in target response at trashy sites.

The prospecting mode on the 705 is sweet and the iron reject works almost identical to a GPX. I wish I hadn't sold mine now but I didn't like the fact that the high freq elliptical coil, which is best for prospecting, isn't waterproof.

Gold Bug Pro, Nokta Fors Core or Gold !

For what you want to do, these are all good suggestions. If the intent was 100% nuggets I'd say go with the Gold Bug II.... But since you want to add some coin shooting the Gold Bug Pro and the XTerra 705 should be considered.
