As I was out detecting some years back I was wandering around and not really watching where I was as I went up a small ravine , and as I did so (being a old dude) I inevitebly started getting tired so I set myself down on the low edge of the ravine and sitting there resting I looked around to make sure I ddidnt sit down in some snake bed I saw this brown bottle right next to me. I picked it up and there wasn't a lable on it but I reconized it as someones heart medicine...........That was 45 / 50 years ago and it's still out in my garage as a reminder to slow down and breath! I hope the man that dopped it was O.K. !

If you were an "old dude" 45-50 years ago, just how ancient are you now? :laughing7:

50 years ago, you were 29. That's being "an old dude"? I'd LOVE to be an old dude again based on your definition! :laughing7:

No! I'm not old, and neither is he. We're just pushing 90!

Age is a state of mind. I know 80 year olds that can crap rings around today’s kids.

I’m 40 and I literally can’t stand most 18-30 year olds. No ambition. No Get Up & Go. NOTHING. Blobs of crap floating through life and doing the bare minimum.

Drives me NUTS. I’ve been working since I’m 11. Sometimes 2, 3 and/or 4 jobs at times.

PS If anyone on here says that they have underwear older than me. Please do yourself and society a favor and buy some new underwear.

No way my undies would have lasted that long, but, I do have some socks older than you! :laughing7:

The under 40 crowd mostly craps out after 8 miles of smooth terrain or 2 of rough hiking when we go out. I just turned 63 and end up carrying most of the water and snacks and always have the first aid kit. What are " underwear "?

As I think about this.... Pushing buttons on and swinging a metal detector, is healthier than playing with a smartphone app! I say this, because I don't have a fat ass, but almost every kid I see, does! Am I wrong?

That might be more about what (and how much) they're eating and drinking vs what buttons they're pushing.

Have you noticed that some who are focused on pushing buttons are quick to grab the nearest convenience / fast food and drink?

You sure know how to "Socket to me" with that sock statement.......... :laughing7: :icon_thumright:😉

PS. It's nice to know others that don't replace with each fashion year change.

Agree... stopped at a local Dairy Queen last week and wanted to get a cone but the door was locked. The drive through was open so I got in line. Signs on every door said, "Help Wanted $17 / hour". They can't get anybody to work there. Only two employees inside, what the hell!

It is easier to stand on the street corner and ask strangers for change than work for $17ph

I have good friend at gym I go to, he is at gym every day 8am working out, drinks wine after the gym. He lives alone, still drives. He will be 97 last of August. He is my hero.

Today is my 202 day this year working out at gym, missed 3 days this year.

Discipline. Motivation comes and goes. Discipline sticks around.
