Sometimes but usually I find Gold in the quartz that has more reddish hues to it I think the white is more dense and doesn't have enough fractures for the gold to work into. The reddish hues are other minerals that have seeped in.:blackbeard:

any thoughts?

Nice looking quartz rocks to me russ02. If these quartz rocks were not put there then I would stick a shovel in the ground and see what is down there under them. If you was to find a quartz vein then you would have a better chance at finding gold. Hard work but just a thought.

Are you located in a mineralized area? I have a quartz rock I picked up out of an old prospect hole, near South Pass City in Wyoming. Looks just like your fourth photo, only mine has a little iron pyrite in it. Gold can be found in all colors of quartz, the different colors are just various minerals that have invaded the quartz. Clear quartz crystals and milk quartz are the same chemical make up, but the molecules have lined up a bit differently. Gold has been found in clear quartz crystals. There used to be a really great gold display at the Carson City Nugget Casino that had gold in the quartz crystals, but they sold it, and I'll show a couple of pictures of the wire gold shot into the clear quartz, but they aren't near as pretty as the ones in the Casino. Those samples came from Bodie, California, which is now a state park ghost town.

and here is a picture of some really high grade ore, gold in milk quartz, and another photo of gold in quartz.

there are alot of wetlands around me. very high in iron. if you do not have a water softner system eventually the water turns your skin yellow. this whole area/town is about the same way. and i am not sure if that has any bearing on it. i also have a pond spring AND stream fed, it almost looks like a red tint to it settles on the bottom. i looked up some history, but the town has nothing on it, i was told this was an old farm here many moons ago. and was tore down, my particular home was built in 1950. but i have noticed lots of rock piles that may have been buildings at one time. i am nervous to go digging around for fear of graves. lol altho i have found some neat bottles on the property, not sure of their value. i gave a bunch away and probly should have not. one was a brown i gallon glass bottle that said clorox on it. i still have some of them. maybe i should post pics?

The red tint to the water that you mentioned is probably just from the high iron content in your area basically rust or it could be tannins from leaves rotting away just nature at work.
