Very interesting shape. I often wonder about the "outtakes" of paleolithic man. What about the art pieces or tools or weapons that were like, "nah, this isn't going to work," and it gets chucked?
I forget which Egyptian tomb, maybe it was Saquarrah, the perceptive archeologists were able to clearly demonstrate that the outline of the wall painting was laid out by an immature, inexperienced hand, with little errors and oopsey's, and that a more refined artist came along behind and filled out the glitches.
And so it is not without possibility that some ancient Indian tried to make a point in quartzite and ended up saying, "bah, humbug," and tossed it aside. I guess a magnifying glass might reveal if the chipping is smooth and rounded, water action, e.g., or sharp and clean, from a chipping action.
I wanted to start this to help some folks with what they are finding and it was asked for, but these photo's will only carry you so far. I say read and read and read some more, look at photos of artifacts and pay attention to detail and I mean every detail of an item. Ask someone their opinion...
