Whites MXT Pro

Stopped by a yardsale today , and happened to see a whites box , and metal detector bag. Took a peek , and saw an MXT Pro. Brand new , never used. Curious i asked how much they were asking , thinking it was going to be around $300. When they said $80 , I couldn't whip out my money fast enough !!! Felt like a kid leaving a candy store , as deals like that rarley happen for me. Its been years since I posted, but hopefully this gets me back into the hobby one again.

I found a cheap Garrett at a yard sale once, I don't use Garrett detectors so I sold it on Fleabay but it was a good profit..

Sounds like my X wife. We were at a flea market and I had a Metal Detecter for sale for $100. She wasn’t very bright so I was always there monitoring everything… but eventually I left for the bathroom and something to eat…. When I got back she was happy saying she sold the Metal Detecter, I was thrilled until she said she sold it for $10.
She didn’t know the difference between 100 and 10 and someone was watching and waiting until I left to come and scam her. (She was from Spain and had been here 6 months) I was so pissed 😡 but never saw that machine again…

I get that, but my experience is that most machines are NOT prone to failure and if I’m just buying it to resell then how is that a loss for me? Most Electronics can be fixed somewhere… Garrett took over White’s Operations… so probably they can fix or get parts for them.

Do you ever wonder how many machines are out there like this? And how much these people supported the Metal Detecting businesses by buying a machine that was never actually used? Someone spent $1000 for that XLT originally and never used it.. 😂

I get that, but my experience is that most machines are NOT prone to failure and if I’m just buying it to resell then how is that a loss for me? Most Electronics can be fixed somewhere… Garrett took over White’s Operations… so probably they can fix or get parts for them.

Well I have tol live with myself. I am not the kind of guy that on;y worries about him self. I enjoy helping others not just into life for the money. Other peoples well beings means something to me. I would not swindle or cheat anyone else

There's more closet detectors than trunk detectors out there.
I know 8 guys that own-yet they don't detect.
The competition isn't really a problem.

How do you get “swindle and cheat” out of buying a Metal Detecter at a yard sale for $80 and selling it to someone who wants it for $200 ? For me that’s taking advantage of an opportunity, someone doesn’t want something and I’m selling it to somebody who does for a good price… I don’t know the buyer and it doesn’t matter to me. I have not the time or patience to try to find someone who “wants to get into the hobby” so I can “donate” a used machine to them so “I can help others get into the hobby”
Sure it’s a good thought 💭 but unrealistic.. 🤷🏼‍♂️ just me

Had the chance to buy 2 XLT,s for $100 each. Both of them needed the LCD screens replaced. I should have grabbed them , because you can get aftermarket replacements. Have to be handy though , as you need to replace 2 resistors, and route the housing , as the replacement screens are a little bit bigger. I believe the guy still has them , so I may pick them up. Be a fun little project.
