I found 2 coins a couple days ago, today I found none. I did find trash, pull tabs, nails, connectors for co-ax cable, foil, screws, and pieces of wire. Today I used the MXT, two days ago, I used the DFX. I was hunting the green belt behind my house those two hunts and I was surprised to find any coins, I also found a .25 cal slug, very unexpected, thought sure it was a gold nugget

. I probably dug well over 60 holes on those two hunts.
I think I have about 60 hours and three books on the DFX and still a long way to go before I will feel proficient with it, I found fewer coins than you the first day I took it out, I think I found three pennies, but that rapidly improved with learning and location, actually I think location did more for my take than my experience with the DFX, but the deeper coin finds came with learning the machine responses and settings. With the DFX, sound, the VDI #s, and the signagraph seem to the truest indicators of what's in the ground. I have been hunting close to home so far this year, and have found several coins at 9.5", which is deep for coins in this neighborhood, although there is an abundance of junk a lot deeper.
When I first got the MXT, I dug every signal, despite what the screen said. I wanted to verify the icon readout, which is not always correct, I came to depend on sound and VDI numbers instead. I have had it a while and still learn things about it on different ground.
I would give it time, experiment with the settings, and have fun.
