Whites tdi pro or tdi sl?

I will be detecting wet and dry sand beaches in mostly n California. I've been doing good lots of research over the last few days but I'm still a little confused. What I got so far it that the sl has a more stable threshold...pro will hit a bit deeper? Any other things you guys can add besides the basis of not being lighter and the other is hip mountable?

If you're looking to get a good beach machine, there are better choices for the same money than the TDI. Hasn't the Pro been discontinued and replaced by the SL? I haven't been keeping up on the White's lately...... :dontknow:

The TDI pro is discontinued but is said to be deeper. I have looked into the TDI many times but since its not waterproof I have not pulled the trigger. I would probably just get the SL if I were looking for a new one.

Thank you guys for the responses. I have a ctx 3030 as well for the wet stuff. I'm just looking to get more depth in the wet/dry sand. I dont venture into the surf all that much. I guess I'm leaning toward the Pro right now...

A friend has the TDI Pro. It is deep! He uses it for mostly dry sand and concentrates on ONLY the deep stuff. Hit's a silver dime at 21" ...if that's deep enough for you? We compared my Garrett's ATX with it...very comparable. My buddy's hearing, however is superb and that makes a difference too.

Joe
