WHAT KIND OF TREASURE ARE WE HUNTING TODAY ?

MINELAB E TRAC, EXCAL2,QUATTRO,WHITE 6000 DI PRO SL,EAGLE SPECTRUM,SILVER UMAX ,BANDIDO UMAX VARIOUS VINTAGE
i hunt quite a bit and i sure seem to be going thru a lot of headphones.

does anybody know of a brand that is super rugged ?

here is a want list.

tight enuf to stay on when looking down when head is sweaty.

earcup large enuf not to pinch

sound in both ears without needing any switches or wheels

HEAVILY REINFORCED at cord ends

to avoid problems i have been having.

earcups seperate from headband poor quality hangers.

black plastic joiner that houses the foam portion of the earcup constantly coming loose from plastic speaker body portion.

poor sound.

loose part inside either or both housings rattles

intermittency in mono/stereo or volume switch. [not having switch eliminates]

intermittency in cord at plug end or where wires enter phones.

FINALLY SHOULD BE RUGGED ENUF TO BE LEFT PLUGGED IN TO DETECTOR. AND WITHSTAND BANGING AROUND WITH ALL THE OTHER ASSORTED JUNK I HAVE IN MY CAR.

are higher priced really worth the money?

i care very little about tone quality

i want bullet proof.

KOSS Have a lifetime warranty
costs $6.00 Postage to have them Repaired.

sent them in several times. the cord is always
going bad.

Have a pair of Troy for 3 or so years now
Still working good

Koss or Detectorpro

There are several good companies out there for heaphone. Ratphones, Jolly Roger, Killer Bee's, SunRay, Gray Ghost, ect... Expect to pay $75 - 150 for a good set. Most have lifetime warrenties and will repair them for a minimal shipping charge.

It's hard to get away from having switches so they can be used in detectors that are either stereo or mono but the high end ones use a better quality switch which will usually take the abuse.

I have a set of Ratphones, Killer Bee's, Gray Ghost and Detectorpro attached to my Uniprobe. All are great headphones.

Bilson, the same ones that made the headphones for Fisher's 1280-X aquanaut water machines. The y also made them for land machines, they called them " Fisher Phones "........NGE

I'm hard on stuff, my Gray Ghosts are very tough. I sure others are too, but thats what I got.

Detector pro makes the Best hands down....I love them, they are comfortable and stay put on your head! If you want some info on these Private message me and I'll hook you up.

while mentioning different brands is helpful, it wasnt what i was looking for

exactly. how about some testimonials . I.E. I have had xyz brand for x years

without any problems what so ever. i never had issues with a detector that was 5 yrs old or newer.

just looking for headphones that can say the same.

I like Detector Pro Gray Ghost. Mine lasted me for years, sound perfect, look cool, fit perfect. They have a Deep woods model that comes with a replaceable cord in case you rip yours out on a branch as well as several other models, I use the originals.
