Went wayy out too Orange, Virginia today in a confederate camp that I was digging out about 2004ish, It got to the point after awhile where everything was just frustrating and lot of people came in and dug the whole camp out completely but know one touched over where this 1960 trash dump is right in the hill where the camp is and after spending a few hours in 2004 digging around this dump I ended up finding a nice breast plate that I will never forget... Anyone want any free 1960 junk from old fridges, cans too thrown out cars and a dodge truck? :laughing9: seriously though any picker may find something in here..

There are about 100 or so 1960 pepsi, dr.pepper and a few motor oil cans laying around.. unless you're into restoration I don't think much of value on anything but there must be 1,000s of 1960 junk laying there with confederate relics laying in there somewhere..

That make me sick HSD-CS camp or not. Some people have no respect for anything. HH, Quindy.

Scrap is going for $10 a hundred pounds in Chartlottesville area now. Load that stuff up and turn it into cash.

A square at a time. That's what I'd do. When I didn't have anywhere else to go dig, I'd bring a buddy and clear out a square at a time. No telling what keepers are under all that junk. It is a shame that folks toss their trash just anywhere. :sadsmiley:

If ya find something in there you'll have to really work at it.that's a lot of trash.

Some times I feel I'm getting to that point [ where I would consider all that work , espacally this time of year ] .If someone has a truck and the site is accessable ther is money to be made , scrap iron / steel is going @ about 10-12 cents a pound around here.

Looks like many "dump sites" I've seen in the woods at a place I detect in Winchester. There are several "dump" sites throughout the woods. I guess that's what they did in the early 1900's. Pretty much all bottles and scrap tin and other junk. It's a shame that it could be covering something really great underneath.

there are plenty of good things in a dump like that if you know what you are looking for..

oh..those cans are probably the best thing you can find in 1940s-60s dumps...paid for my van...check out the message board at www.therustybunch.com ..Ive personally cleaned up totally brown ones to look nice (oxalic acid......)

Thats a awesome message board, i've been there a couple times in fact I think you pointed it out to me a few weeks ago, I've found about 20 or so Esso Motor oil cans in places I have hunted and always take them, I can get $5-$10 a pop for them all the other stuff is pretty much worthless, I have 100s of pepsi/dr pepper/etc bottles from the 50s and 60s and know one wants them but people really want those old Motor oil cans, I even get a call every now and again asking if I have any Esso motor cans sometimes. :occasion14:

This is a Esso i found 2 weeks ago!
