I was at the was at the AFL - CIO'S bi annual 1989 convention that took place in Washington ,DC when then PRESIDENT GEORGE H BUSH (THE OLD MAN ) opened his remarks to the convention with the following remark--- --My dear freinds of the AF OF L -- CIA -- "opps" fruadian slip there--- THERE WAS A STUNNED FEW SECONDS AND THEN A UP ROAR OF LAUGHTER, ) ****the old man was former head of the CIA and ORGANIZED LABOR had been helping the CIA FOR YEARS.

Yup . I was one of those 'volunteers' in '89 with Rich Trumka and Cecil Roberts in the UMWA strike against Pittston in VA and KY .
Hope you got treated better for your efforts in the aftermath than I did . I got discharged from a 20 year Union job and the UMWA dropped me like a dirty diaper . No help at all .

I met John Stockton's (Utah Jazz, retired) ex wife. I washed her windows talk about a huge mansion it took me a week to get them all washed. Anyhow she told me she is dating a doctor who wants to marry her but she refuses because John pays her 1 million in alimony a year. If she remarries she will lose it.

An update! Just got back from Vegas again (getting darn expensive to do anything there) and got to meet Criss Angel after a show of his I had tickets to, and a man who I'm fairly certain was Keith Richards. At least, he looked, spoke and acted just like Richards. :icon_scratch: If I stop to think, the man looked far too healthy to be Richards. Probably just some dude from over the pond on vacation. :icon_jokercolor:

My Aunt Jesse went to college with President Nixon. As a young man I was able to have dinner with him in the White House. He was a very interesting man. Nothing like he is made out to be. I have a lot of respect for the man
(RIP).

Personally, I think he probably was one of the best and most unappreciated presidents the US has ever had. I hope he will be remembered as such in later history.

As for people I have met, Ronald Reagan, Jim Valvano (coach of 1983 NC state national basketball champions and ESPN announcer and just all around really nice guy), Jason Hawes (star of SciFi Channel's Ghost Hunters and a very good friend of mine)...

I met and shook hands with Geena Davis years ago when Geffin film company was here in East Corinth filming Beetle Juice. Very polite woman I must say. Her husband in the movie ( cant remember his name ) was rude and did not want anything to do with the locals.

VPR

Figures... her "husband" was Alec Baldwin... who I seriously wished would have fulfilled his promise to move to Canada after W. was elected... ::)

Patrick Swayze (worked on Black Dog with him)
Randy Travis (also Black Dog)
Greg Allman (used to party with him back in college)
More musicians than I can count while working backstage security for concerts at Lakewood Amphetheater in Atlanta in the early 90's
Newt Gingrich (worked on his relection to the House a couple of times in the 80's)
Ronald Regan (at his second inauguration)
George Wallace (Governor of Alabama, not the comedian, ate Sunday lunch with him regularly from my earliest memories until his death, he was my granddaddy's best friend.)

Estes Kefauver. You'll have to google him, but that tall tennessean got this 6 year old farm boy up on a flat bed trailer and gave his campaign speech with his hand on my shoulder. Never forgot him.

I met a lot of celebrities during my 18 years working at Walt Disney World but, the one that I thought was a top notch person was Jeff Foxworthy. I met him when he was doing a show at the House of Blues at Downtown Disney.

Re: Who's The Most Famous Person You've Ever Met?

Too many too list, but some of the ones the world considers famed and I actually met and visited with include: Reba McIntire, Ernest Tubb (his bus driver took a picture of me, as he thought I was what an Oklahoma lawman should look like for some reason), Johnny Paycheck, Jon Anderson, George Strait, The Kendalls (Royce was the nicest old boy. He sat down with us while his daughter signed autographs), Orion, Eddie Raven, Janna Jaye, Tex Ritter, Moe Bandy (nice guy to work a show for), Joe Stampley (a**hole to work a show for. Came on late, drunk, and the fights started as soon as he opened his mouth. And he egged them on. But that's country.), John Conlee, Jim Ed Brown, Faron Young (we were escorting him to the bus after the show as he had quite a few avid lady fans. I felt somebody from behind grab my gun so I got a pretty fancy lock on the hand and arm and spun them around. It was Faron. I thought it was over for me, but he just laughed saying he was joking, and admitted he probably shouldn't have done that.) Some of the 2 Live Crew. Whole bunch more music people. My mom's cousin was married to Charlie Feathers so I've heard a long time ago, but never met him. Oklahoma Gov.'s Henry Bellmon (a regular guy, I thought) and Frank Keating. (He sent me a Christmas card every year he was in office.) And Ernest P. Worrell. At Brahm's, too.

Re: Who's The Most Famous Person You've Ever Met?

The best thing about all the folks I've met Rando is I never set out to meet them and most of them acted like they were more tickled to meet me than I was to meet them. And I had to admire them, cause every one of them had talent, even the worst of em, or at least a damn good agent.
