Why do you detect?

History, thrill of the hunt, and just being outdoors. I lose interest in something unless it is a challenge, and this hobby seems to keep my hooked and ever gets old.

Fresh air, sunshine, and getting to be the first one to see that bit of history in so many years.

For me the list of reasons would be long, but the main ones are: to be outdoors and get some exercise, but more importantly, while researching and later detecting for that brief time in the field it's like I can almost envision in my minds eye what the site was like 100 yrs ago or more. I've always said I was born about 100 yrs to late. I also enjoy the noisey silence of a dense forest.

My first detector was a "magic wand". I could find things that were invisible to the naked eye...... and maybe many years old..... and maybe valueable. Doesn't get any better than that! Except being able to give it back to the owner. TTC

OBN, now that sounds like heaven!
