Anyone who has seen that flash of gold in their scoop knows why. "BOOM! GOT ONE" you say to yourself as you reach in to pull it out and tuck it away in your pouch until you get home to read the stamp under magnification (yup, I'm over 40 so I can't read any ring stamps anymore without magnification).

I have been getting more and more experience water detecting over the past three years, but it has all been very focused over a short two week period each summer while on vacation on the east coast. Well, I've decided to get a lot more serious about it, and plan to hit some central California beaches as many times as I can over the winter months. It's a 2 hour drive for me, but I figure the additional training and experience I'll get from it (and possibility of adding a little more gold) will pay off big dividends when I hit the east coast beaches next summer. And next summer we'll be spending 6 or 7 weeks on the east coast instead of only 2 weeks, so I hope to spend as much time as I can water hunting next summer.

Anyways, here are my gold and platinum spoils from the last three summers...

You mean it is only a 2 hour drive and you haven't been hitting them on a regular basis? :icon_scratch: It is a 3.5 hour drive to Miami for me and I try to go there as often as I can....

Those are some nice rings there, now hit the California coast beaches and add to them......Where on East coast are you going next year?

Find ya a cheap dive and stay for 2 days... since ya have to drive anyway. I would say ya don't need practice, just get out there and hunt um down...

Yes I understand you. I live about 2.5 hours from the nice producing beach on the Atlantic and I found my 1st ring this year. Stone was fake but I still got a nice hunk of 10K gold.

I can't wait until the last weekend in March when we open up the house again and I begin hunting at the beach again.

What can I add that hasn't already been said and said well. Impressive batch of rings and I'd be proud to find any one of them. WTG Now next year the challenge will be to double that stack! Go for it!

Great pile of loot there time4me  nothing like seeing that gold bouncing around in the scoop.

Nice Rings!!!
For me, just being at the ocean's edge at dawn... few people around... sun glinting off the water; that's Heaven to me. I love the solitude, the peace. At least until the crowds begin to flock in! But hey, they're the ones who are leaving the gold behind, so I'm not complainin'. Daytona is just about 2 hours from my home - and it's ALWAYS worth it. Yep, even when my scoop is empty; it's always worth it.

I can feel ya!! I love the beach and water hunting has it's rewards. Congrats on some nice finds there. I am looking forward to showing all you folks my nice finds.....when I eventually find some!! lol.. :laughing7:

I live near Gainesville, Florida so it's a drive for me to any beach. But, being a long haul truck driver, any long drive is not a problem for me. I was just looking at a possible trip to Miami this month. Gas, hotel, etc.. about $230 food, etc.. estimate. And I can bring my dogs to certain places I know around the Miami area, and they can stay with me in the Motel 6 (it's about 13 miles from miami).

Keep up the good work, and hope you find more great stuff on both coasts!! With all the Florida folks here, perhaps you can hook up with some of us?? We can have a nice get together. :)

Hearing the special tone that you know is a gold ring an then seeing one or two in your scoop at a time is one of the best things about water hunting. An so is the scenery.
