Why some Bank Managers and Tellers have Clad in their heads instead of Brains

OK, When I say Clad Head the meaning is

Clad Head= From the Greek, Clatus, hetus = Stupid= Idiot

So I will use Clad Head instead of using Stupid or Idiot because I do not want Jeff from PA to expel me me from this site but let me tell you what happened to me today.

I call a bank and I ask if they have half dollars. The Clad Head Manager says yes we have a lot and they have been here for a long time. He also says they are in a bag. I say I will be there after work to buy them all. At this point my heart is beating fast. You all know the feeling.
I get to the bank after work and asked for the manager. The manager remembers I am the one asking for half's. The manager goes to the vault and brings a bag full of worth less presidential dollars. I say, these are not Halve dollars. The manager apologizes and says that he has an other bag and that he just made a mistake. He goes back to the vault and comes back with a bag of Susan Anthony Dollars. I am thinking are you S!@#!@#@!#. Of course I was polite. So long story short.

Half Dollars mean Half Dollars, no Presidential Crap or Susan Anthony Crap, or sCARAWUENA OR What EVER IT IS DOLLAR COINS CRAP.

I am still upset.

I would buy a solid bag of SBAs. You can check for 1979 P Near Dates. They are pretty rare and I've sold them for good money. BU ones will bring $20 or more.

Just an idea.

I have looked at thousands of SBAs and only found about 20 near dates. I think they are scarcer than the 1974 D DDO half.

Does stink that he doesn't know what a half dollar is, and he's running a bank though :BangHead:

It's called the Near Date or Wide Rim variety. They are pretty scarce. I've found 15 total out of thousands searched. They bring pretty strong money in uncirculated, which you can still find. SBAs never circulated much anyways. I estimate the ratio of narrow rim (far date) to wide rim (near date) at about 500 to 1.

I would have checked to see if they would have sold them as halves then doubled my money. Maybe that's underhanded but if a teller wants to hand me $2 for $1, I'll make that exchange in banks that I don't bank all day long.

Anyhow, I would of took the SBA's but also the Sacagawea's if he had them to look for the
Sacagawea error coins that are worth a good amount.

And isn't there a few years of SBA's that are not as common as the others? I sold one for $4 last year.

Had the exact same thing happen to me about 2 weeks ago. Messed up thing is, they probably would have sold them to me for half price. Too bad I believe in karma.....

recently at a fast food joint had a kid have to "ask" his manager to see if they took half dollars * but a bank manager should know half dollar from dollar coins --maybe he was hoping you would "clear out" those lame president and SBA's dollars --i think the fed "force" issued so many per bank

I think your senario is more common than we think. Happened to me "again" just this week. I was at one branch where I cleaned out their customer wrapped rolls. Another teller pips up and says "Sally at our other branch has tons of half dollars and rolled coins. Would you like me to call and see if she is still has them?" I am thinking, "Well, yes!" Get there and it is the same ol' story: Clad dollars of all sorts. Did manage my first silver quarters (2) from CWR there.

At least I know the majority of folks at these 2 branches don't cull silver as they are very young (20s).
