Why would anybody take back at the same bank they pick up at?

I think this is why the banks have begun charging for boxes. They know what a "normal order" for the week is...and then they need to "special order" a low demand coin, then return them a week later! People complain about getting other's dump's,so I imagine the bank just sit's on them and sell them to you again!

I get boxes of coins from TD bank where I also dump at the same bank. The tellers don't mind at all... I just dont order half dollars from them, get those from another bank. (I dump all my coins at that same bank)

I've been doing this for about 9 months and no problems yet

Depending on how many you get you likely soon will. Works for a while but once you make it through the pile at your distributor there is a good chance you will see them coming back at you. Maybe you will get lucky and are in an area where they send them all back to the fed. I sourced through the same distributor in my area for about a year then that was it...all skunks and they sure looked familiar.

Any other coin besides halves is going to be used in retail transactions. So hopefully, you are culling the copper and silver, then your dumps are being picked up by stores and distributed as change to customers. A good situation if you can do it and the bank doesn't mind :notworthy: They HATE getting their halves back, though. People that do that will be shooting themselves in the foot!

The bank that I order from told me when I picked up my first box, "You aren't planning on bringing them back here right"?

I said no then she told me she would be happy to order halves for me as long as they don't see them again.

Not a problem. I don't want to search them again anyway so why would I bring them back to where I got them?

I pick up from a bank and I dump at a CU.

I deal a lot with TD as well. They can't sell halves, the system won't allow them to,at least in my area. I return bags of halves to them and sometimes ask for a box of coins at the same time. They told me they don't mind as long as they have enough for their own transactions. I try to catch them when they're not busy.
The banks that i do order halves from usually don't want to see them again with the exception of one bank. The tellers,at this bank, ask me to bring some back as another customer asks for them all the time. At another branch that i order halves from, i sometimes ask if they have any customer rolls as well. They are usually happy to sell them to me.

You could offer to return rolled clad halves to the bank that have something like 1968 or 1964 written on the rolls, so they look really good to a CRH, but then they find out it's a bunch of skunk rolls. I hear that causes some people to give up. Let the Coin Wars begin.

Funny that nothing's changed roll hunting in the last three years, just more of it!

Same situation for me, they will supply me with any coin box as long as they have enough for business customers, in the 9 months i've only got turned down 2 times because they forgot to order more coins and I had to wait 1 week to get coins. :)

I pick up at a bank, dump at a Credit Union.

Huskie Fan, I see you are in northern IL and hope you are not one of the ones around me. The banks around me are just about done ordering any boxes for anyone because of the cost involved when someone picks them up and brings them back the next day to the same bank. There are 3 banks that used to order and now will not even sell you a roll and the other 2 banks pretty much have said it will be ending soon. When there are 4-6 people doing this in one area they need to get on the same page or we all suffer.

Send me a PM and we can see if we are working the same area.

whoa I'm in northern il too.. guess it's pretty congested up here

If a bank will not give you halfs but will give you dimes and nickels. Dump your halfs there. Take in $500 of halfs and get $500 in dimes. That is what I am planning on doing to one bank that will not order halfs for me but will order dimes and nickels.....Matt
