That certainly looks like Dennis had a hand in its' construction.

Pretty cool. I wonder if it was hafted or they just held it like it is.

I bet they got that from my old Dentists office

Lol we used to make sling shots out of coat hangers.

Having no idea of the size, I was wondering what that was. I thought it might be a jailhouse shank of some kind.

Now that's a nice sling shot. Old and handmade.

These days kids would not know what a sling shot is....they would have to look it up on their handy newest model I phone.

LOL took me a minute to figure out what it was. I got in some trouble with one in my younger days when I wasnt the pillar of the Community as I am today lol

Hi . Criminals make good detectorists .Sneeking around parks at night .LOL TP

At one point it had tape wrapped around it. It fits perfectly it the hand and aims naturally. Sorry about size comparison, it’s the size of a slingshot, anyway, what should I use for elastics?

A small, thin bungee cord might do the trick. Be sure to crimp the ends around the loops, so as not to gouge your eye out on a backlash/recoil type
of thing. Also, you might want to get "CRUSADER" to give his opinion of this find. It might be the one that David used to kill Goliath & was handed down through his descendants who eventually settled in Massachusetts. One never knows the original owners of such weapons.
This site has a few pointers; https://stayhunting.com/best-hunting-slingshot-reviews/

"3. Type of Rubber Band – There are two types of rubber bands used in slingshots – tubular and elastic. The flat elastic band is preferred by athletes as it provides more accuracy and efficiency. On the other hand, the tubular band is preferred for commercial production due to its durability.
You can choose one based on your level of skill, preference, and comfort. In this case, it is wise to choose the best slingshot bands for hunting."

What be that material? is it spring steel... Hand crafted anything is awesome to find..

I find this somewhat hard to believe A2, in that I always figured you to be a pillar in the community......here on Tnet leastways. Lol

I'd go for some surgical tubing and a small patch of leather :icon_thumright: Keep it simple!

I haven't seen a slingshot in ages. I had a few in my childhood but they were all promptly confiscated since I never could resist shooting my cousin:dontknow:

Looks like you will only be able to use common rubber bands, it doesn't look like it can withstand much pull force. The wooden ones we used to make had car tire inner tube bands which could carry some weight with velocity, I don't think you will be able to put a steel ball bearing or a marble very far downrange with the one you found.

If anyone brought one of those to school these days, they would probably call S.W.A.T. and evacuate the school. The kid would be expelled and all the children would have to go through counselling for the "trauma" and the horror of an armed child on campus. I'd add a smilyface, but, it's probably too close to be true to be funny!
