well Murphy's law finally kicked in. for a week we knew this storm was coming. I had been on my brother's case for over a month to get our snowblower fixed for winter but he procrastinated and since he had my mom's truck I couldn't take it in myself. So I had to drive home last night and it was not pleasant but I have driven in worse. Finally got home and it wasn't the road that got me. It was our 100 ft long driveway. My mom won't/can't snowblow the driveway and I work full shifts so by the time I get home its blown shut. definitely thinking about finding someone to come out and pay them to snowblow our driveway. No snowplow because those tear everything up to mess and my car is parked in the middle of the driveway. it's a repeat of last year's March super storm but at least this time we have power this time. and I just got back from a week and a half vacation and now I have no vacation time to use while I am stuck at home. ::sighs:: this stinks uber big.

On the good side I was able to get to town on vacation and got 3 boxes of nickels. all I got was one 1923-5 buffalo nickel. So I cashed in 100 dollars and went to a local coin shop. with silver at 31 dollars I bought 2 oz bar silver, 2-halves and 3 quarters for about 101 dollars. then silver fell the next day to 29 dollars for a few hours :;bangs head on table:; man! if I had only waited one more day. But at least I got some silver. I was thinking about saving my nickels till I had a large amount and in the spring I would cash them in. I have a handcart and can load canisters of coinage into milk crates. Still throwing the idea around.

Oh! sidenote - when did they start naming winter storms? Winter storm Draco? what was last march's uber storm called? I have only been calling it the storm of the century.

Hugs, smiles and safe travel to anyone out in this junk,
Garoulady

Buff

Hi Garoulady,

How many inches did you get? I heard TC got it pretty bad. We only have a few inches downstate.

HH,

Pete

Drove on I-96 this morning to grab an order of 1 box halves, 2 box dimes. It was such a mess, there's still no salt on the roads. It'll be worse tonight when its all a sheet of ice. Halves were a skunk, still haven't checked the dimes. I bet its terrible up North. Garoulady, you're nickels have been terrible lately. 3 boxes and only 1 buff?!? I'd be ticked.

At least you ain't in skunksville! Sorry to hear about your troubles. Silver will go back up, especially with all this fiscal cliff hype(it does not exist by the way).

Southern Mich here, might get out to do some detecting tomorrow - was out in every winter month last year...if not, then roll hunting!

They started naming storms this year.

Hey Garou :)
Long time no see!
Hope you've been well, will be breaking boxes like no tomorrow this week. =)
Good luck!

The Weather Channel started naming winter storms this year so that they could capitalize on people's misery during the storms and get ratings. Over the last 5 years, The Weather Channel has really gone down hill. It's all about the ratings now and how they can get people to turn in for anything else than the weather every ten minutes.

At my house, between Kingsley and buckley, in the bullseye, we got at least a foot. It's a repeat of last years march storm but at least we have power. I feel bad for my co-workers. If I can just clear out a small spot at the end of our 100 ft driveway I can just hoof it back and forth and park at the end. The roads actually were not bad. I'm not anti-social but I don't feel comfortable going to a neighbors house and ask them to snowblow my driveway. I rather pay a business 50 bucks, some homemade canned bean/ham soup to do my driveway. and at least the weather channel isn't as bad as TRU-TV or spike. The supposed reality TV, give me a break, talk about bad actor TV. Well it's officially 12/22/12 and we are still alive. Time to do more CRHing. If I get my driveway cleaned out I plan to go out monday and get some more rolled coin and take my mom out. After Christmas I want to order at least 2 more boxes of nickels and see if I get anything.

Sincerely,
Garoulady

What ever happened to the days of snow storms just being called snowmageddon, Snowpocalypse, ect. Draco sounds too draconian dawgs.

Garou, I'd travel from Massachusetts for Soup + 50$! lol
Good luck on them nickel boxes!

that's really a pretty good price regardless of the one day movement.

Around the time when NBC bought the Weather Channel.

well good news. Brother came over and brought the gas for the snowblower. Luckily it started right up, no problems apparently. I'm glad. Took me 3 1/2 hours to hand shovel 70 ft of our 120 ft long driveway. Ugh!!! but oddly my back and shoulders are fine after all the work. Not my favorite sort of excersize though. LOL. We might go out christmas eve and get my brother a new bed. His ex-fiance took the only bed as she moved out, and all the toilet paper, cleaning supplies, the water deposit and the dog. Thank god the witch is gone but man....Thank goodness I don't date. What a headache that would be. Anyways I wish everyone tons of silver finds, good weather and

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Sincerely, Garoulady
