All Treasure Hunting
Beach hunting is great, no doubt about it. But I have noticed something about myself lately which has made me curious if anyone feels this same way.

So I'm on the beach and I'm hunting the wet sand, my thoughts and eyes constantly examining the water, the crashing waves, the foam, the mystery of it all. Before long I find myself in that water not finding a thing but enjoying the heck out of it anyway. On the wet sand I was at least hitting a few targets, now an hour into my water hunt I've still not hit the first good tone worthy of digging, and yet two more hours will probably pass before I decide to get out, my thoughts seldom, if ever, returning to the wet sand.

I don't know, but to me there is something about being in that water that brings about a greater sense of adventure, a greater sense of mystery, a heightened sense of the hunt. Below me is a bottom I can seldom see, around me there is current and waves always threatening to push me off course, and whenever I do get a good tone it's often not near as easy to pluck that target VS the wet sand, and yet I still stay out there. Heck, even when I do head back to the wet sand I'm often drawn to those little spots and pools of standing water on the beach, the minute I reach them that heightened sense of the hunt and that greater sense of mystery and adventure immediately returning.

So for me, it's definitely, "With Water"........anyone else experience these same effects?

This I understand , the world is a different place at these moments.also you expressed it very well

Sky above, Mud below, Water, sometimes in between.
All of part of the fun!

Sounds like some GOOD weed to me! :occasion14:

Lets just call it - the thrill of the hunt X 10 factor---water. We drink it to survive, we play in it, bathe in it, get food out of it, it is dangerous, calming, etc. We use it for all sorts of things, it's magical, and we are fascinated by it, drawn to it.

I put on the big coil last night, planned to hunt the wet sand all afternoon today, wasn't at the beach five minutes today and I was knee deep in water right out of the gate. I stayed there for about the next two hours. :laughing7:

A side note . A friend of mine at the gym of refers to me as Jacques Cousteau :laughing7:

Bingo. Well put, well written. Thats me.

I also gravitate to the water...simply because I think that's where the gold is.

I often hunt the local river my best finds are from there, usually from the knees down at low tide . Love the water check out some of my finds

It's legal here now, isn't it? Oh dang, maybe not! Did they see me? Are they following me now? Should I go back? Are they reading this thread? SHUT UP! THEY COULD BE LISTENING! OK, I'll just sit here and stare at the screen. I'm hungry. Hey, could those little beer guys be tiny cameras? Click! Click! Click! Why can't I stop laughing? Did I already say that I'm hungry? :laughing7:

I haven't done a ton of water hunting. But when I do it just feels good. We all came from the water and it feels like going home. I get it! :icon_queen:

I STILL THROW IN A FEW LAND RELIC HUNTS A YEAR - BUT IM A 99% WATER HUNTER - UP HERE IN NEWENGLAND - BEACHES WILL OFFICIALLY OPEN ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND - THE BEACHES WILL HAVE ABOUT 20 HUNTERS ON THE DRY FOR EVERY 1 IN THE WATER - SO DRY SAND HAS NEVER BEEN AN OPTION IN MY BOOK - UNLESS I GET ASKED TO FIND A LOST ITEM - YOU WILL NEVER SEE ME IN THE DRY STUFF
I LIKE BEING COOL AND COMFORTABLE IN THE WET STUFF - IVE ALWAYS FOUND 10 TIMES MORE GOLD IN THE WATER - I THINK MORE PEOPLE LOSE MORE IN THE WATER AND THERE IS USUALLY LESS COMPETITION - I WEAR A MASK 95% OF THE TIME AND ENJOY THE ADDED THRILL OF SEEING WHATS BENEATH MY FEET AND AROUND ME OUT THERE

Yikes!

I've never thought of it this way, but, in the back of what's left of my mine, I believe this is true.
