How well would you have been able to ID your finds? Is there many things you think would still be unknowns?

I got on to hunting early sites fairly soon after I started detecting and without the net I would have had very little chance in learning much about my finds. I'm not the type to go to the library to research something, and some finds I wouldn't have even known where to start. My first experience on the internet was just one month before I bought a detector so they go hand in hand for me.

So can anyone imagine metal detecting without the forums or the ability to research your finds through a Google search etc.? I sure can't.

I would have more books than I would know what to do with. I already have too many. No I wouldn't want to try to id things without the internet, thats for sure.

The internet is one of the best tools for researching items. I'm lucky enough to have a lot of knowledge from collecting coins and other things before I got into treasure hunting. I also worked in coin shops and antique stores before hand also. It was a great learning experience.

I learned about coins, toys, depression glass, farm and yard tools from hands on experience while I was young. I still surprize myself with the fact that there are a lot of things still out there that I know very little or nothing about. Hang onto the items that you find to research it enough to know if it's a treasure or something to recouple expences out of.

I would probably have given up detecting a long time ago.

Wonder what will replace the internet? Change is a fact of life.
