workin' the trash
after picking up a full beach kit in dania I found on craigslist (see that post in beach forum), I stopped at a couple of parks on my way home and worked the trash around the parking lots. Sort of an experiment. I found a couple of nice items, one was .900 silver, probably Indian from the looks of it, broken off from a larger piece. I acid tested it and it turned red, indicating high silver content. The sterling shoe charm has a "Beau" hallmark. These are collectible, very popular on ebay, one just like this recently sold for $12.
The wire filigree piece gave a low signal, I can't recall just which, the shoe gave me a strong coin signal.
The filigree weighs 1.25 dwt, the shoe weighs 1.4 dwt, total value as silver bullion yesterday: $3.91. Btw, pennyweight is 1/20th of an ounce, it's easier to figure than grams.
