I listened to the interview.
The woman said they went for a picnic and bought a bottle of wine.
Post consumption of the lovely beverage they found a piece of paper, wrote the daily thoughts. Tossed the bottle over the cliff.

They actually thought it probably smashed on the rocks below.
Until their phones started to come alive all those years later.
