Have you ever looked at a hill and thought that you wanted
to go to the top, just to see what's up there?

I have looked at this one that way for years,

Well, I finally did it. It looks a hole lot different when you get
close,

This hill happens to be where a WW I training camp used to
be. I thought maybe troops spent some time up there. I think
this was an artillery and infantry training camp.

Almost all I found was artillery shrapnel and a few fuse timer
fragments,

Here's some shell fragments,

I only found one 30 cal cartridge and no shot bullets..... That
means this place was probably just used for artillery practice.

These lead balls were used as shrapnel inside some types of
WW I artillery rounds,

Here are some shell parts and some fuse timer fragments,

I had to stop detectin the big stuff. All that fit in one pocket!

About Fuse Timers;

I have found 2 intact fuse timers before. It is very rare to find
one intact. This model is really rare and they are worth quite a
bit of money. But I won't sell them,

There are some crystals up on tha hill, but they are hard to
find,

When you get on top of the hill it looks different from looking
up the hill,

In reality, there are hills and valleys to cross before you get to
the top. I must have walked 4 steep miles to get up there and
back.

I think I am gonna sleep good tonight.

Thanks fer L@@kin,

Great post. I really enjoy reading other people's confessions of satisfying their curiousities. I helps me believe I'm not always alone in my own. I've climbed a lot of hills and gone down in a bunch of holes.....just to find out.....what.
