Judging from the size, and flat base, It could be some sort of game piece. Nice find.

That's what thought, looks like a chess piece. But the arms or whatever they are at the side are very strange. I'd like to know from what era this comes from, it looks old to me.

what you have is a good luck statue from hindu religeon.It is lakshmi.she is godess of good fortune.It is common for it to be displayed in a hindu household....4 arms are great clue....
