Would you do this?

I visit branches of a bank where I do not have an account.

I want the bag of halves when it fills up, but the manager told me that it is already reserved for "....." who has an account.

It occurred to me that "...." is probably a small timer that look through an occasional bag, probably just at that one bank.

I could move in on him by getting an account and bringing my dumps there for a little bit. After $5000 of dumps (probably less) ol' "...." wouldn't be so keen on the half bags, leaving me to pick up the next ones right after mine get hauled away.

yes i would... don't assume that the other person is looking for silver in those bags... you may just make his day by filling up that half dollar bag sooner than he's used to.

I would, that means 1 less CRH'er out there. of course if I were in that person's shoes, I would be MAD! but that's how it goes. I have many free coin counters in my area, none of the banks will sell me bags off of there. Once the coin is in the bag, it is whoever they are shipping the coin bag full of coins out to, it's their coins.

Funny though, the tellers do cherry pick the half dollar bag. (they know better than to cherry pick my bags) ha. I date check.

I think its fair game on a coin counter anyone can use it, so its not like they "ordered it" or claimed some kind of ownership to it. I imagine if you did get in on the action the bank might give you every other bag to keep it fair or something. Hope you find some loot!

I wouldn't buy boxes that other people had ordered unless the manager says they've been MIA for weeks and they need the vault space. I'd say that would be bad karma, but the coin counter is fair game IMO!

I would not do this. Some of us have been doing this a long time and have worked hard
getting Banks to sell bags. When you put in years of work and have a new guy come in and
steal it, it really ticks you off. Eventually this is going to happen. Have a heart and leave his
or her bag.

I wouldn't do it, other than to have an extra dump bank. Plus, once he starts getting your dumps, the other guy may turn it into his dump bank too - I know I would...

Without a CRHer dumper, half bags fill -slowly-. Bags of cents and quarters fill almost every day while bags of halves might take 6 months or more of non-CRH dumps to fill. Not sure that it would be worth it, to be perfectly honest.

Wouldn't slow me down a bit. I occasionally get someone who dumps half dollars at one of my pick-up banks. Just means I get to see what is in the partial bag sooner. Also at my dump bank, I get to search through the half bag on the machine before I dump and exchange 1 for 1 for what I want out of that bag before I dump mine.

Since the bags don't fill up to often it is always a treat to search them. I've been at it for several years and a few dumps wouldn't discourage me in the least.

Me personally, No. But then I don't have the fever like some. Not saying it compares to your scenario but
people have been known to betray others for a few pieces of silver going back a couple of thousand years.
