WOW!! That is a very RARE type of bugle hatpin! And to still be on the hat......well BANNER!!!!

If this doesn't make the Banner, as RARE is this , I will be shocked!!

I just read in Howard Crouch's book, "Civil War Artifacts", that the type of infantry horn was used by Viginia Militia troops in the pre-war period!

Nice relic ! Again BANNER!!!!!!!

WoW!!! ..., WoW is right! One heck of a recovery for sure! Congratulations on such a significant find! I vote BANNER,too!

WoW That Is Awesome!!!!

Amazing! :o :o :o What kind of water and silt did you find that in? I'm just awed by the fact anything that old could have lasted so long! Sure it wasn't a prop in a John Wayne/John Ford movie?

This would pre-date the Civil War by quite a few years!

Definitely belongs on the banner! Got to love these cold Canuckian waters for preserving relics! Great recovery!

More great finds Diver! Can you give us some close ups of your buttons?

just another days dive for the pro :headbang:

What a dive! I found a piece of heavy leather while diving...When I flipped it over I saw the large bugle!!! Oh what a feeling. Also found some cool Naval buttons, a ring and coins and a very early military issue Bone handle knife.
Thanks everyone. I'm going back out Friday morning to look for the regiment number and crossbelt plate!
