Detector(s) used
White's 6000 Di/Pro, E-Trac
Hi, I stumbled upon this site yesterday before going to do some detecting. Some truly amazing finds the members here have made! I have a Whites 6000 DiPro that i have had for about 20 years. It has been a great detector. I had to replace the coil about 5 years ago. I used to detect a lot when i was a kid. I dont do it much at all anymore. But once in a while Ill take it out and do a little hunting. Yesterday after looking through some of the pics on this site and getting all fired up to find some treasure i went out. I went to an old park which i know has been searched at least 100 times. I went and tried the less obvious places. I didnt find much, but i was very very pleased with what i did find. The silver coin (1905) was about 3" deep on top of a hill in a wooded area. It just popped out of the ground. The first thing i did was to check it to make sure i didnt gouge it. Seems like that happens on the really nice coins. Gotta love the way a silver coin looks when you free it from the ground. Also had another reading fairly nearby and found a 1903 IH cent. two 100+ year old coins made my day! Also found a token which says "join the cracker jack mystery club". Here is a pic. Ive always liked the history of the finds and the mystery of not knowing what you might find. Everything you find has a story to tell. If only they could talk.

Happy Hunting folks!

well folks you have all helped to rekindle my interest in this hobby. thank you. today my back hurts and my right hand has 3 blisters on it. But if i didnt have to go visit relatives today i know i would go back out there! maybe tomorrow!

again this is an outstanding site....i am amazed by the finds the members here are making. all the way from a detectorists "firsts" to some seriously old and plentiful finds...

there must be SO much out there still waiting to be found!!!!!!

good luck out there!

Sweet finds. That Barber Quarter is in excellent shape. Worth some $.

Welcome to the forum. It does get you motivated. NE Ohio is a great place to have a detector. Population density was the greatest in your area in the early to mid 1800s. I'm over in the western suburbs of Cleveland. Don't make it out too far east but maybe I should. ;) ;D

Some nice coins there! Who was the president on your Cracker Jack token? I found one with William Henry Harrison.

Wow Moonshine, what a beautiful way to introduce yourself to TNet members! :) 8) All of the responses above are good testimony to your doing a remarkable job of re-kindling the TH'ing flame which was burning within you and gettin' back out there again to re-set the fire, at a new speed. 8) 8) Sore muscles, rough, beat up hands, achin' bod even, and other negative stuff, all become small and near forgotten problems, when a beautiful and very elderly piece of American Coinage historty, suddenly reveals itself to your machine and then, to your ever Widening eyes. 8) In my case this prompts a complete raising of the hair on my scrawny ol' forearms, while almost bringing on a sweat, in one spooky place I hunted years ago! ;D

Welcome Moonshine to TNet! :) I feel proud to know you even a little already, and I really see, with your great use of words and pics, just how SUPER it is , in here, that we all get to rub shoulders with many other good folks who have felt some of what you are feeling right now buddy. :-[ Kinda makes me blush a bit sometimes when I start tellin' deserving folks, how good they are doing in life. :) Never did see ANY wrong in giving a person credit when and or where, credit is due! ;) Especially in here, once they've found the BEST of all, TH'ing Forum on the whole Internet thingy! ;D ;D We all seem to collectively want more of those feelings and beliefs to grow by osmosis or whatever to all of our great group. :) Glad to see you in here friend, it's THE place 2 B. :) Lb 8)

Awesome! I'm jealous of you finding those Barber coins! It's been a long time since I got one. Heck, I've only found three Barber quarters ever, and the last one was more than a decade ago!

Are there mintmarks on the reverse of those coins?

Welcome to Treasure Net! Looks like you're off to a good start. Congratulations on the finds and thanks for sharing.
