Hello everyone,
I am currently searching for a working Goldspear (Gold Spear) direct-contact probe system.
If you have a complete working setup gathering dust, or even individual components (control unit, probe shaft/extension, or headphones), please let me know what you have!
Specifics I’m looking for:
Condition: Ideally in working functional condition with a intact probe tip and good cable connections, but I am open to units needing minor cosmetic work.
Components: Complete kit preferred, but open to purchasing separate control boxes or spare shafts.
Payment & Shipping: Willing to cover shipping costs and pay via standard secure methods (PayPal Goods & Services).
Please send me a Direct Message (DM) with a couple of clear photos of the probe tip and control box, along with your asking price.
Thanks!

Sometimes, I think the only folks making gold-level monies, are the ones selling parts for a Goldspear!

Have you ever used goldspear?

If you're asking me? Yes, but it wasn't mine. They're crazily pricey. I've used a GPR too, but that one I leased, because they're exceedingly pricey. As I recall, the purchase price was about $25K at the time. One thing about GPR, it doesn't matter if it is metallic or not, you can see it, sometimes well enough to actually tell what the object is.

I was actually asking Lost_Adams, but if you research it there are a lot accusations of it being trash. The name rang a bell which is why I posted link to old thread on it.

Good point! I'm not a gold guy to start with, but I have gone with a couple of other detectorist who were. For me, it is a whole new scenario, and the equipment, no matter what it is, gets somewhat more expensive than just swinging a loop around. I've even tried my hand at panning, but that is a learned technique. My hat's off to anyone who masters it.

I really would like to own a GPR setup, but with the added interferometry software (3D rendering), they cost as much as a small house or a large SUV.

I don't understand what you are saying, please expand on your comment!
Thank you and have a nice day.

Yes Treasure Hunter I have been using them for 20+ years. I have found 5 pockets with them on a friends mining claim around Liberty, Washington, while I was selling him one.
I no longer sell them, I just collect them for personal use and spare parts.
There was a guy in the Dakota's that used to repair them in the USA for Goldspear of Sweden. He no longer does that and is retired and HAS NO PARTS! That was for anyone who has questions for Him. I just talked with him last week and he told me that.
There was a review article in Popular Mining Mag in the late 80's or early 90's about the Gold Spear and it wasn't very favorable in his assessment of the machine! Most people can't see past the instructions and popular use of a machine to use it properly in different environments. Like how the instruction video and booklet tell you to push it into Sand and take a reading!
Well anybody with a lick of sense knows you can't push it into a gravel bar or into desert gravel in a stream bed or side hill. I used mine to sample in holes I drilled with my homemade hand soil auger. and it worked Perfectly. Well I didn't take into account the fact that the little pieces of SiO2 locked in the Clay matrices of the soil would act an abrasive and scrape off little pieces of the Auger Steel. Well hidden in the literature is the statement that ANY and ALL manmade processed Metal will set it off as a Gold reading. It measures the Electrical Conductivity of the particles it touches. So I took 4lb bags of soil from the holes, luckily I only took 4 samples that day as it was late in the afternoon. When I got back to camp I panned first sample down and saw a bunch of 150 mesh particles in the bottom of the pan, but No Gold! So I sucked that sample up in the sucker bottle and went to another one. Well the same thing happened and I started to believe somehow the AU was contaminated with Mercury or was a Light Electrum gold, ie Gold an Silver alloy. When I put it under the Microscope it all looked Silver. Well I then ran the magnet over it and It ALL jumped up to the magnet. Then it Dawned on Me that the Gold Spear was doing it's job and I was interpreting the readings it was giving me WRONG. I wanted to prove this method so BAD I was blinded in the beginning by my ignorance and Gold Fever!!! Well I decided that I could use the Hand Auger method but I would have to use a Strong Neodymium Magnet to clean out the hole, and this was an iffy procedure in itself!
Well It was time to Break Camp and head home! But I had learned a lot about that country and had found an old Caved in Mine that was full of water. Also the old Hydraulic mine ditch and some hand riveted 8" pen stock pipe that was buried and ran up the hill to the end of the ditch.
I have over the years learned to use the tip to Not Penetrate the Ground but to slide it along the surface at about a 45 degree angle the same angle as the carbide tip! this allows me to get a reading on the surface of the 200 mesh minus Au Particles that are still on the surface. PS there is a $hit Load of these particles on the surface near the source and downhill from the Vein/Pocket. AS some of you have probably figured out I am a Pocket Hunter, and have found many and am still looking for that Big One before I have to Quit. I am 76 and not as spry as I used to be.
Sincerely
Bill "Lost Adams"
