Perfectly round, and heavy. Found along the banks of the ohio river in north central Kentucky. Appears to be a very hard sandstone type rock. It looks like a big hamburger patty! :laughing7: I've lived along the river for 46 years(my whole life), and never seen the river sculpt such a round and symetrical shape like this. We find lots of points and such in the plowed fields. Artifact or river rock??

I'm pretty sure that's an anvil. If not, it's a Mano or hammer. Nice find! Don't believe the river shaped that one.

Nice piece of stone. Looks to perfect to me but I will bump it back to the top for others to see it. When I say perfect it is a good kind of perfect.

Pretty sure it is not a discoidal.

When did they say the wheel was invented?

I'm going to go with mano or anvil also. Great find:thumbsup:keep checking that river.

I found one similar at my dig site.

I don't know why it couldn't be a discoidal, finished or unfinished. Pretty cool find.

imo to smooth to be a hammer.

I agree with monster and NC !!!

Thanks for the input guys. It is neat to hold and feel its weight and smoothness. The river bank has sooo much to look at that its hard for your brain to process what you're looking at. But this was easy to spot!
