WWII MK-23 Practice Bomb

I found this (what I believe is a) practice bomb today. I think it is an MK-23 and seems like a common item from that era. Can anyone confirm this ID?

That is an awesome find. I have found 5 Mk 1 practice bombs but none newer. Would love that in my collection! SWEET!

Years ago I came across a navigation map showing two WW2 navy bombing ranges on the Alabama Gulf coast. Me and three buddies went out and found both sites and dug up 24 of those smoke bombs. I still have a nice one that I kept on my desk at work till I retired. I am looking at it right now.

Cool!! We've have a couple of old WWII bombing ranges around here also. We've found hundreds of 50 cal. shells, along with a few 20MM shells. Lots of lead bullets and MK-23 practice bombs.
