So my niece is graduating this year from high school, so I thought I would do something. This is the Western Plains Chapter, and she and her dad are members. Her uncles Phillip and Tommy (Animal) were too. Phillip died from a car wreck and Tommy died from a motorcycle wreck. Tommy wasn't an animal but he could grow a good beard. Tourists showed up to see what the hell was goin on at his funeral. Pretty good organization, y'all check it out. And it would be cool to win those jumper cables.

Thanks Spooky. I respect these guys I guess because my family has a long history of horse culture, and to me bikers are just an extension of that. Animal's wife was threatening to sell his ride last year cause she needed money for a lawyer, so I stepped in and paid her off and gave it to my brother. It's the three wheeler on the downed biker page. I wanted to buy a bike myself and could afford it, but the last time I rode my bicycle it cost me $1700 at the ER to get sewed up. Apparently I can't pop a wheelie like I could 45 years ago. So I decided to re-think that investment.

Those people with Downed Bikers Association are some really good people. A freind of mine called me last week right after an accident in Pheonix to tell me about it and for me to be extra careful as she knew I ride. Just last week there was a bad accident in Arizona with 8 bikers stopped at a red light with cars in front of them plowed down by a truck with a roll off bed from behind. According to the driver he was looking over some paperwork, DIDN'T see the bikers, red light, or cars in front of the bikers, WTF?. I can pretty much guess this guy's career and life is over as well as the company he is, (I mean was), driving for. I been riding since I was 13, (now 47), I don't let my guard down for anything, especailly when I am stopped at a light or stop sign. I am always looking in my mirrors in case someone decided NOT to see me.

One reason I got into doing LED Accent Lighting for motorcycles, (www.de-luxcycle.com), to make riders safer riding at night to be more visible, but it doesn't do anything for daytime riding.

I started out on a hardtail 45 in the pasture fields in 1961 . I was 11 . Still have my 18th Harley . '80
80inch . 3rd I've owned that has a hand clutch and foot shift .
I still support the good things done by folks that are considered 'on the fringe' by the 'reglar citizens'.
