It is a nice and the river really is black. The story I've heard is the water is stained with tanic acid created by roots of a certain plant found in the swampy area's north of here. Generally have lots of deer although the last 5 years or so we've had an "earn a buck" system. Which means you must shoot a doe before you can shoot a buck. That goes for archery and gun. That and agricultural tags have put a pretty good dent in the population. A farmer might get 75 ag tags for deer damaged crops and he must fill those tags in order to get paid for the crop damage. I will say that car deer accidents are down from what the were at least in our area.

Thanks,
Sidevalve
