I decided to give CRH a try. I stopped by several banks today and managed to snack a whole $2 in halves. They must be hard to come by in my area. The silver lining is that one of the four coins is 40% silver. I heard the different sound it made when it was set on the counter at the bank. I had to settle for buying some rolls of dimes and quarters.

They are not necessarily harder to come by in your area, but most likely the banks you stopped at didn't have any at the moment. You will find that it all about ups and downs coin roll hunting. It's never a steady pace

If you want halves your going to probably have to see if they will order a $500 box for you. Banks rarely have loose halves or loose rolls of them.
